The wait is over. JAMB has officially announced the date for the 2026 UTME mop-up examination - and it is Saturday, June 13, 2026. The announcement was made today, Monday May 25, 2026, in an official statement signed by JAMB Public Communications Adviser Dr Fabian Benjamin, and has been confirmed by multiple major Nigerian news organisations including Punch, Channels Television, TVC News, TheCable, and EduTimes Africa.

If you are one of the candidates whose result was withdrawn, whose examination was disrupted by technical challenges, or who could not complete biometric verification on examination day - your next examination date is confirmed. Here is everything you need to know, in one place, right now.

The Official JAMB Announcement

JAMB's statement, issued from its Abuja headquarters and signed by Dr Fabian Benjamin, reads as follows:

"The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed Saturday, 13th June, 2026 for the conduct of the UTME mop-up examination for all candidates who presented themselves and were biometrically verified for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) but were unable to sit the examination for one reason or another."

"The mop-up examination represents the final phase of the annual UTME exercise and serves as an opportunity to address all outstanding examination challenges involving candidates who duly presented themselves but encountered difficulties in taking the examination."

"Affected candidates are hereby urged to print their Examination Notification Slips, familiarise themselves with their examination centres, and make all necessary arrangements ahead of the examination date, as there will be no further opportunity for any candidate to sit the 2026 UTME after this mop-up exercise."

Two Critical Dates Every Mop-Up Candidate Must Note Immediately

• Saturday, June 6, 2026 - Examination Notification Slip printing begins. This is one week before the examination. Do not wait until June 13 morning to print your slip - print as early as June 6 and confirm your centre details.
• Saturday, June 13, 2026 - The mop-up examination itself. This is a fixed, confirmed date. JAMB has stated there will be no further rescheduling or opportunity to sit the 2026 UTME after this date.

Who Qualifies for the June 13 Mop-Up Exam?

JAMB has confirmed three specific categories of candidates who are eligible for the June 13 mop-up examination:

Category 1 - Candidates Affected by Technical Failures at CBT Centres

The 2026 UTME was conducted between April 23 and April 29, 2026. Some examination centres experienced technical difficulties that prevented several candidates from sitting the examination. Candidates whose CBT sessions were disrupted by system failures, network outages, power cuts, or other technical issues at their accredited centres have been listed for the mop-up. If you were present at your centre, completed biometric verification, but could not sit the full examination because of technical problems - you are in this category.

Category 2 - Candidates Whose Results Were Withdrawn

Some results were subsequently withdrawn over examination infractions. Candidates who received the official JAMB withdrawal notification are included in the mop-up list. This includes candidates from centres where fraud was detected - including the high-profile Delta State case we covered in an earlier post on this blog - whose legitimate sitting could not be individually verified during the investigation. If you received the message "Your 2026 UTME result has been withdrawn. You will be rescheduled for the mop-up exam" - your date is June 13.

Category 3 - Candidates Who Could Not Be Biometrically Verified

Candidates whose results were withdrawn over examination infractions, as well as those who could not be verified biometrically on the examination day, had also been scheduled for the mop-up exercise. If you presented yourself at your centre on your assigned date but your biometric verification failed through no fault of your own, you are eligible for the mop-up.

Who Does NOT Qualify

• Candidates who sat the full examination and received a score - even a low one
• Candidates who want to resit to improve their score
• Candidates who were absent without a verified technical or procedural reason
• Candidates who were confirmed to have engaged in examination malpractice

Your eligibility is determined entirely by JAMB's system. You do not need to apply to be included in the mop-up list. If you are eligible, JAMB has already listed you automatically based on the records of your centre and your examination session.

This Is the Final Opportunity - JAMB Has Been Emphatic

JAMB described the mop-up examination as the final phase of the 2026 UTME process, aimed at resolving all pending examination-related issues involving affected candidates. Dr Fabian Benjamin was explicit in the official statement: there will be no further opportunity for any candidate to sit the 2026 UTME after the June 13 mop-up exercise. No further extensions. No additional mop-up sessions. No rescheduling from the mop-up itself.

How to Print Your Examination Notification Slip for the Mop-Up

JAMB has confirmed that affected candidates should begin printing their Examination Notification Slips from Saturday, June 6, 2026. Here is the process:

Step 1 - Visit the Official JAMB eFacility Portal

Go to efacility.jamb.gov.ng - the only official portal for printing JAMB examination slips. Do not use any other website. Any third-party site claiming to print your mop-up notification slip is unofficial and potentially fraudulent.

Step 2 - Log In to Your JAMB Profile

Enter the email address and password you used during your original 2026 UTME registration. If you have forgotten your password, click "Forgot Password" and follow the reset instructions sent to your registered email address. If you have lost access to your registered email, visit the nearest JAMB office with your original registration details and valid ID.

Step 3 - Navigate to Examination Slip Printing

Once logged in, your dashboard should reflect your mop-up examination status. Look for the "Print Examination Slip" or "Examination Notification Slip" option. For mop-up candidates, this slip will show your updated examination date (June 13), your assigned centre, your session time, and your seat number.

Step 4 - Confirm Your Centre Details

Before printing, confirm the examination centre address carefully. Your mop-up centre may be different from the centre where you originally sat or were assigned for the main examination. Read the centre name and address carefully, look it up on a map, and confirm how long it takes to get there from your location.

Step 5 - Print and Prepare

Print at least two copies of your notification slip. Keep one safely at home and carry one to the examination centre. What to Do Between Now and June 13

1. Start Intensive Revision Immediately

Review all four of your UTME subjects starting today. Work through past JAMB questions for each subject - the past five to ten years of UTME questions give you the clearest picture of what JAMB typically tests. Focus your revision on high-frequency topics in each subject: for Mathematics, work on quadratic equations, trigonometry, and statistics. For English, practise summary writing and comprehension. For sciences, cover the recurring organic chemistry, genetics, and mechanics topics.

2. Practise the CBT Interface Until It Feels Natural

One of the most significant factors in mop-up examination performance - beyond content knowledge - is comfort and speed with the computer-based examination interface. Candidates who are unfamiliar with the navigation, the timer management, and the question flagging system lose valuable minutes during the examination. Practise on a CBT platform that replicates the actual JAMB interface until operating it feels completely natural.

3. Confirm Your Centre Location Early

As soon as you print your slip from June 6, locate your examination centre. If it is in an unfamiliar area, travel there in advance to know exactly how long the journey takes and where the entry point is. Many candidates in both UTME and mop-up examinations lose significant time - or miss the examination entirely - because they underestimated how long it takes to reach their centre.

4. Prepare Your Examination Materials in Advance

The night before June 13, prepare everything you need:

• Your printed Examination Notification Slip
• Valid means of identification - NIN card, International Passport, or Driver Licence
• No mobile phone - phones are strictly banned from JAMB examination halls
• No smartwatch or electronic communication device
• No textbooks, notes, or printed materials

5. Get Adequate Sleep the Night Before

This matters more than most candidates realise. Sleep deprivation reduces recall speed, increases anxiety, and slows the processing that CBT examinations specifically demand. Finish your revision by 10pm on June 12. Sleep by 11pm. Wake with enough time to eat breakfast and travel to your centre. A well-rested brain performs significantly better than one that revised until 3am.

What Happens After the Mop-Up Exam

Once the June 13 mop-up examination is completed and results are processed, several critical processes that have been waiting on the mop-up will be activated:

• National rankings will be finalised. With all candidates - including mop-up candidates - now scored, JAMB will complete the national ranking calculation that has been holding up result slip printing.
• Original result slip printing will be activated. JAMB has confirmed that the result slip printing delay is directly tied to the mop-up. Once mop-up results are processed, the printing portal will be opened for all 2.24 million candidates.
• Full admission processing accelerates. The JAMB CAPS system, Post-UTME screenings, and the broader 2026/2027 admission exercise will move into full gear immediately after the mop-up is concluded.

The June 13 mop-up examination is therefore not just important for the candidates sitting it - it is the final piece of the 2026 UTME cycle that unlocks the admission process for all 2.24 million candidates across Nigeria.
