JAMB 2026 Result Withdrawn ? What It Means and Exactly What to Do Next

If you received a message from JAMB stating that your 2026 UTME result has been withdrawn and that you will be rescheduled for a mop-up examination, you are not alone ? and you should not panic. This development is serious, but it is manageable, and this article will give you the full picture of what happened, why it happened, who is affected, and the exact steps you need to take right now.

What Is the Exact Message Candidates Are Receiving?

Affected candidates have been receiving the following official notification from JAMB:

"Your 2026 UTME result has been withdrawn. You will be rescheduled for the mop-up exam. Date and time will be communicated accordingly."

This message is coming directly from JAMB through registered phone numbers. If you received this, your result has been officially cancelled and you will be required to resit the examination during a mop-up exercise.

Why Has JAMB Withdrawn These Results?

The withdrawal is directly connected to a major examination fraud operation that was uncovered by the Nigeria Police Force and JAMB during the conduct of the 2026 UTME. Here is exactly what happened:

The Delta State Fraud Bust

During the 2026 UTME, security operatives acting on intelligence reports launched a coordinated investigation at the College of Education examination centre in Warri, Delta State. What they uncovered was a sophisticated, technology-driven examination malpractice syndicate operating during the live examination.

According to an official statement issued by the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, investigators found that while the examination was actively in progress, the computer systems of certain candidates were being accessed remotely and without authorisation by criminal operators operating from an undisclosed location. In simpler terms ? fraudsters were remotely controlling candidates' computers and answering examination questions on their behalf in real time.

Three suspects were arrested and are currently in police custody. A fourth principal suspect was still at large as of the time of this publication. Investigations have also linked additional examination centres to similar illegal activities ? meaning the scope of the fraud may extend beyond Warri.

Why Innocent Candidates Are Also Affected

This is the most important point for candidates who are confused and distressed. JAMB's standard procedure when examination fraud is detected at a centre is to withdraw the results of all candidates who sat at that centre pending the conclusion of investigations. This is done to protect the integrity of the entire examination process and ensure that no fraudulently obtained score is used for admission.

This means that candidates who sat legitimately and honestly at an affected centre may also have their results withdrawn ? not because they cheated, but because the centre itself was compromised. JAMB's position is that it cannot determine, without a full investigation, which individual candidates within a compromised centre were affected by the remote access fraud and which were not.

The mop-up examination is therefore the mechanism through which innocent, legitimate candidates are given another fair opportunity to sit the exam under secure and verified conditions.

This Is Not the First Time JAMB Has Done This

It is important to understand that this is not unprecedented. JAMB has a long-established policy of withdrawing results from centres where fraud is detected and rescheduling affected candidates for mop-up examinations. The board has consistently stated that the integrity of the UTME process is non-negotiable and that no result obtained through fraudulent means will be allowed to stand.

In previous years, JAMB has taken similar action when examination centres were found to have facilitated malpractice ? and in every case, legitimate candidates were eventually given the opportunity to resit. The process works.

What Exactly Is the JAMB 2026 Mop-Up Examination?

The mop-up examination is an additional UTME sitting organised by JAMB specifically for candidates who were unable to complete their examination due to circumstances outside their control ? including technical failures at CBT centres, disruptions, and cases like this where results have been withdrawn following a fraud investigation.

Key facts about the 2026 mop-up exam:

  • You do not need to re-register. Affected candidates are automatically identified by JAMB's system. No new registration fee is required.
  • No official date has been announced yet. JAMB has stated that date, time, and centre details will be communicated to affected candidates directly through their registered phone numbers and email addresses. Any date circulating on social media that is not from JAMB's official channels should be ignored.
  • The exam will be a full UTME sitting. You will sit the complete examination again ? all four subjects ? under standard CBT conditions at a verified centre.
  • Your original registration details apply. Your subjects, institution choice, and course selection remain unchanged.
  • The result from the mop-up will replace the withdrawn result. Once you sit and pass the mop-up examination, that score becomes your official 2026 UTME result.

What Should You Do Right Now?

If your result has been withdrawn, here is exactly what to do ? step by step:

Step 1 ? Stay Calm and Verify the Message

Confirm that the withdrawal notification came from JAMB's official SMS channel to your registered phone number. Do not rely on information from social media, WhatsApp groups, or third-party websites. Only JAMB's official communication counts.

Step 2 ? Monitor Your Registered Phone Number and Email

JAMB will communicate your mop-up examination date, time, and centre directly to your registered phone number and email address. Ensure your SIM card is active and your inbox is not full. Check regularly. Do not lose access to the phone number you used during registration ? this is your only official communication channel with JAMB.

Step 3 ? Check the JAMB eFacility Portal Regularly

Visit efacility.jamb.gov.ng and log in with your email and password. Check your dashboard for updates on your mop-up examination schedule. You may also be able to reprint your examination slip with updated details once your new date is assigned.

Step 4 ? Do NOT Pay Anyone

There are already fraudsters exploiting this situation ? claiming they can reverse your withdrawal, restore your original result, or fast-track your mop-up date for a fee. None of this is real. JAMB does not charge any fee for the mop-up examination and no individual or agent can influence your examination scheduling. Anyone asking you for money in connection with this matter is a criminal. Report such individuals to JAMB or the police.

Step 5 ? Prepare Seriously for the Mop-Up Exam

This is the most important step of all. You now have additional time before you sit the examination again. Use it. Review all your subjects. Practise on a CBT platform that replicates the actual JAMB interface so you walk into the mop-up exam fully prepared and confident. Do not waste this opportunity.

Step 6 ? If You No Longer Have Access to Your Registered SIM

JAMB has acknowledged that some candidates may no longer have access to the SIM card they used during registration. The board has stated it is working on a solution for this specific situation. Monitor JAMB's official social media handles and website at jamb.gov.ng for guidance on how to update your contact details if necessary.

What If You Were Not Involved in Any Fraud?

If you sat your examination honestly and legitimately and your result has still been withdrawn, this is understandably deeply upsetting. The hard truth is that JAMB cannot yet determine, while investigations are still ongoing, exactly which candidates within a compromised centre were directly affected by the remote access fraud. The withdrawal of all results from affected centres is a protective measure for the integrity of the entire admission process ? not a judgement of your honesty or ability.

What JAMB has guaranteed ? and has consistently delivered in past situations like this ? is that every legitimate candidate will be given a full, fair opportunity to resit the examination and obtain an honest result. The mop-up examination is that opportunity. Take it seriously.

A Warning to Exam Fraud Syndicates

The 2026 UTME fraud bust in Delta State demonstrates clearly that JAMB's technological monitoring systems and its collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Three suspects are already in custody. A fourth is being actively pursued. Additional centres are under investigation. The Nigeria Police Force has made clear that cyber-assisted examination fraud will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

For candidates tempted to engage with individuals offering score manipulation or examination assistance services ? the consequences are severe and permanent. Your result will be cancelled, you will be barred from future examinations, and criminal charges may follow.
