The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board's Central Admissions Processing System — JAMB CAPS — is the platform through which all Nigerian university admissions are finalised. No admission is complete without JAMB CAPS confirmation. Not a university offer letter. Not a Post-UTME result. Not an admission list appearance. The cycle only closes when the candidate accepts their admission offer on JAMB CAPS and the institution confirms it on the same platform.

To use JAMB CAPS, candidates log in at jamb.gov.ng using their JAMB profile. From there, they can check their admission status, accept or reject an offer, and upload O'Level results for institutions that require them. O'Level results must be uploaded on JAMB CAPS before many universities will process a candidate's Post-UTME application — confirm your target institution's requirement on this point before registering.

Candidates who do not participate in the Post-UTME Online Aptitude Test will not be considered for admission. This rule applies universally. This applies to every university's screening — past questions are the single most reliable preparation resource available.

Timing is the biggest challenge in Post-UTME CBT. Questions are designed to be answered quickly. Admission lists are published on the institution's official portal and subsequently reflected on JAMB CAPS. Sometimes, the first list doesn't mean the process is over. If you miss the first batch, more lists might follow. Many schools consider your course, quota, and cut-off before making final decisions. Candidates whose names do not appear on the first list should check back for supplementary lists before assuming the cycle is closed for them.

Once an offer appears on JAMB CAPS, the candidate must formally accept it through the portal within the stipulated window. Failure to accept on time can result in the offer being withdrawn and reallocated.

Avoiding Scams — A Non-Negotiable Warning

Every Post-UTME season generates a surge in fraudulent activity targeting anxious candidates and parents. The pattern is consistent: individuals or fake websites claim to offer admission guarantees, Post-UTME form sales through unofficial channels, or insider placement for a fee.

The rule is absolute and without exception: no institution will request payments into personal accounts. All transactions must be carried out through official university portals. Any person or platform claiming to facilitate admission outside the official process is running a scam. There are no shortcuts. There are no guarantees available for purchase. Any money paid through unofficial channels is gone, and the admission being sold does not exist.

Register only through your institution's official .edu.ng portal. Pay only through Remita, Interswitch, or the institution's designated payment gateway. Keep receipts and screenshots of every transaction.
